Our Green Footprint:
-The Zuma Tours Fleet uses top-of-the-line Suzuki Electronic outboard twin engines, 2023 & 2024 models, twins in all our boats; 150hp, 200hp, and 250hp each, four-stroke for less pollution from smog and noise.
Suzuki Lean Burn System description: lean burn engines are designed to operate on a lean air-fuel ratio, in other words, a thinner mixture of fuel. Suzuki’s Lean Burn Control System controls the air to fuel mixture by predicting fuel needs according to operating conditions. Using this to deliver a leaner fuel mixture to the engine, produces better fuel economy.
-We change the engine oil on time and bring the residues to a designated location for its proper disposal treatment.
-We aim to change our engines every three years to avoid maintenance problems, resulting in better, more reliable and more consistent services with eco-friendliness in mind.
-Zuma Tours recycles all the plastic bottles and cans used on the tours, helping the town with their local recycling project, and step by step stoping the use of plastic.
-Since 2014 we stopped using charcoal for our grills.
We buy fresh fish for our tours every week from the local fishermen from the town of Cabuya, and do not buy billfish like sailfish, marlin, swordfish because they are endangered of extinction.
Since 2014 we use organic chicken from an accredited farm in the Nicoya Peninsula.
We help periodically with clean-up days on the beaches and the town of Montezuma as well.
We’re the only business in town contributing a meeting place, luggage storage and office facilities to the volunteers that come to town to help in the two projects dealing with the rescue and guarding of the sea turtles and their hatcheries in Montezuma Beach: ASVO and the Romelia Refuge in Playa Grande.
